There are a bunch of new apple mac ads out in the States. They feature two characters called Mac and PC. They're pretty lame, and there's lots of spoofs on YouTube and here. The 'networking' one is very funny.
Obviously some people like them though, as there's a Livejournal community called mac hearts pc. It claims to be "The internet's only forum for delving into the secret romance of Mac and PC, the love that dare not speak its name." There's some crazy stuff on there, like fiction (of the slash variety), photo stories , song lyrics and icons, like the one on the left. Certainly a less obvious form of consumer generated content.
They've also got this funny RPG going on. Livejournals are set up in the style of personified software, internet sites or other cyber things. They are probably more amusing if you've spent some time in Livejournal and are familar with the style these blogs are written in (and the item being spoofed). Some of the better observed examples:
n0t_sp6m Nothing need be said.
firefox_rox Firefox, who despite being the most secure browser out there, is very insecure about himself.
ie_xodus Internet Explorer, who is totally not bitter at all about being completely dumped by its loyal users.
linux_is_better Linux, who is incredibly emo and withdrawn.
m_i_space MySpace, whose journal is so blinky and unreadable that I can't even tell you what it's about.
